Playwright and motivational speaker James Ebo Whyte, popularly known as
Uncle Ebo Whyte, says that he can turn anybody, irrespective of their
careers, into a star…if only the person has the passion and time.
Uncle Ebo made the comment on Thursday’s edition of This Morning on
Viasat 1 with hosts Kokui Selormey and Patrice Amegashie. According to
the playwright, he has auditioned many ordinary Ghanaians, who have
eventually turned out to be stars.
He added that one needs to be ‘good enough’ to get a role in his cast.
He disclosed that every actor who has featured in any of his plays had
to write an essay on their character before making it to the big stage.
“If you have a degree of any kind, whether in Zoology or Archeology,
you can audition for my plays…,” adding that to have a degree shows that
one has written an essay before and therefore it won’t be a difficult
task writing one on their play character.
As a motivational speaker, Uncle Ebo Whyte is known to have helped
numerous people in all walks of life through his hard hitting,
inspirational and realistic presentations. He has successfully written,
produced and directed over 20 plays, including ‘Unhappy Wives, Confused
Husbands’, ‘Terms of Divorce’, ‘Caught in the Act’, 'Don't Mess With a
Woman', The Day Dad Came, 'Sins of the Fathers', He Loves Me, He Loves
Me Not', and ‘Trials of the Ghanaian’.
Earlier, veterans David Dontoh and Irene Opare were on the show to discuss the drama and movie industry.
This Morning airs Mondays to Thursdays from 7am to 9am on Viasat 1.
