Star Actress Jackie Appiah and Producer Shirley Frimpong took home an Award at the National Youth Achievers Awards 2012



The National Youth Achievers Award (NYAA) is a national recognition platform designed to publicly honour exceptional youths between the ages of 15 – 35, who have excelled in various sectors of the country, with the hope of preparing them for responsible leadership.

tAward-winning Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro on Saturday night made a surprise appearance on the hot seat as a judge at the finals of this year’s Miss Malaika pageant held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Her appearance at the Miss Malaika finale was also tagged as a special attraction for the event’s tenth anniversary celebration.

Many had thought she was one of the invited celebrities for the red carpet event. But the beautiful actress ended up on the high table. She indeed brought some uniqueness to the judging table. Her demeanor during the evening indeed showed she had fun.
She was fabulously dressed in a red outfit and made her entry into the conference centre on Saturday in the company of her younger sister Elizabeth Okoro and Fashion 101 hostess Sandra Ankobiah.  
Miss Malaika is a pageant organized, since 2002, to redefine the African concept of beauty by event organisers Charterhouse.
The show also paraded other important judges as ace broadcaster at Peace FM Kwami Sefa Kayi, musician and host of Allo TiGO Jon Germain, Theresa Ayoade, CEO of Charterhouse and Kay Bentsi Enchill, CEO of Cuticles & Nails.
Bridget Sharon Cofie, an 18-year-old former student of St. Mary’s Senior High School, became the judges’ favourite and was crowned this year’s Miss Malaika.  
Regina Anne Dei Van-Helvert, a 20-year-old student of the Central University and Sadia Sanusi 19, a rising fashion star and graduate of Accra Girls’ High School, were first and second runners-up respectively........

Ghanaian actor Majid Michel seems to have become an ‘awards magnet’ after winning Africa’s best actor award at the last Africa Movie Academy Awar
ds in Nigeria.
The actor has been nominated for one of the world’s most recognized and prestigious award ceremonies called Planet Africa Award. ..
The 2012 edition of the Planet Africa Award programme is described as one of the biggest awards in the world.
This year’s will take place at the Roy Thomson Hall, Canada on Saturday, October 27.  It will begin with a VIP dinner followed by the exciting awards presentation.
The award is aimed at identifying role models especially for the youth, as it recognizes individual and organizational performance at the national and international levels.
Among other elements, the event features world class entertainment as it also identifies and recognizes deserving individuals, organizations, businesses and agencies that make a profound difference in society and the lives of people of African heritage. 
Since 2004, this has been achieved by honouring and celebrating their accomplishments at an annual awards ceremony in Toronto, Canada. Awards are presented in categories which include: Leadership, Professional Excellence, Science and Technology, Community Development, Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award, Media and Entertainment, African Renaissance, Rising Star, Enterprise, Sports Heritage, Academic Achievement, Marcus Garvey Memorial Award, Volunteer and Lifetime Achievement.

Hundreds of movie fans and fans of popular Ghanaian actor John Dumelo gathered at the Accra Mall on Sunday evening to witness the launch of one of his J. Melo designs.  The tall actor partnered with L’Oreal to stock J.Melo hairpieces at the Hair Depot shop in the Accra Mall. 
Henceforth, fans and interested persons can purchase J.Melo hair collection from the Hair Depot at the mall close to Mr. Price shop.
